Repost : " They are so inspiring "

They in that title means my teacher. There are three teachers I like most, Surya, Stefen, and Pak Wayan. Why ? Because they gave me something that made my mind opened.

Surya
He’s my teacher in my English course, TBI. I like him because he has good sense of humor, he knows a lot, never makes us (students) feel bored, and I really like his teaching’s way. So, I always waiting for his class. He gave a lot of knowledge, especially lesson about life :) He gave some advices about how to pass this life. And it’s so inspiring me. But, I felt sad because on August 2010 I moved to Bandung to continue my study. I thought that I lost the best teacher I ever met. But then, I was sure that I’ll never lost him. He’ll always on my heart. I trusted, even though the best teacher will never teach me again, I will meet another wonderful teacher in Bandung. And I promised, I’ll bring every knowledge from him everywhere to share :)

Stefen
Same like Surya, He’s my teacher in TBI. I ever met him before I moved to Bandung, but I had no memory, I mean something which inspired me. And now, I join conversation class during my holiday. And I met him again. We just met twice but I really really get something to learn and since that my mind changed ! First time I met him when I had interview as a requirement to join the class. Before I entered his room I thought that the interviewer will asked me a lot of question for their evaluation, I mean they wanna know my English ability, so they know in what level/grade I have to join. But, when I entered his room, I know  that I was wrong. He asked me just 1 question :

S : Why do you wanna learn English ?

I answered his question. And than he just said : Okay, you can join the class. And you can go home. That’s all ! Honestly, I was surprise. So, I asked him : really ? nothing else ?  He answered :Ya, that’s all, you can go home now if you want. And I asked receptionist about my class and she told me : Level 5. And I knew that he evaluated me from my answer’s way. And from that moment I know that he don’t care about our ability because ability is just about time, he cares about our vision to learn English and he really appreciates it.

The second meeting was when my local ( I write it because I get local and native teacher in my class ) teacher couldn’t teach my class, and he came to teach us. He entered the class, told to us to make a circle and sat down. He didn’t speak. He looked like waiting for something. So, we asked him : Sir, what are we doing here ? why do you just keep silent ? why don’t you teach us ? and he answered : teach what ? This is conversation class, and what you’ve to do is just speak ! Main point of this class are speaking, asking, and answering. Just make conversation, and now I’m waiting for you to do it. just speak everything you want.

I was surprise, because his teaching’s way different with other teacher. The other still using textbook in class, and the class is just same like general English class (class which focused in grammar). I ever thought that it’s not really a conversation class. But, he surprised me with his way. It was like he knew what I want. And during the class, he gave us new knowledge.

And the best thing I learned from him when he told :
When your local teacher teach you, what you need to do is concern about grammar or everything they give to you. But, when native teacher teach you, I know it’s not easy to understand what they said, but, forget about it. What you need to do is just pay attention to them. Look how they say/pronounce words, Listen to their intonation, and learn about their culture while their teach you. It’s better than you learn nothing.

He’s so inspiring me because I never learn about it before, I never know that I can learn about culture when my teacher teach me. Since that, I gave extra attention to my native teacher. Thank you sir for opened my mind about that.

Pak Wayan
Like I said in my post about Surya
” I trusted, even though the best teacher will never teach me again, I will meet another wonderful teacher in Bandung. ”
And I met one ! He’s my calculus lecturer in Telkom Institute of TechnologyActually, sometimes I don’t really understand with his explanation. Because, he explained so fast. It made me need additional teacher to help me study calculus, I mean private course.

The best thing I can learn from him is he really hate corruptibility or dishonesty. He don’t really care about score, he just want us to be honest during process. He really appreciates it. He gave us a lot of lesson about life. He said to us :
when you are being a tycoon or rich people, walk in the right way. If you have a project, and you know it’s not true, I mean there is something wrong with that project like corruption, always remember my face, I hope you will ignore that project. Always be honest people !
But, he already moved back to his town. I hope we’ll meet again, soon. And I’ll always remember what he said to us, and keep his message.

I didn’t mean that another teacher aren’t good, they all are awesome. They teach me from nothing to something. But three of them are really inspiring me.

For my teacher as I mentionedI’m sorry if there is something wrong with my speech and writing. I hope your understanding.
